Arlington Tennessee State Veterans’ Home

The West Tennessee Veterans Home is set to become a 122,400-square foot nursing facility, offering intermediate and skilled care for the state’s veterans. With a capacity for 126 beds, the home is meticulously designed with the veterans’ comfort in mind. It’s composed of seven individual houses, each able to accommodate 18 residents in private rooms. Anticipating future needs, an additional house for 18 more residents has been thoughtfully accommodated for. The facility’s layout comprises three distinct buildings, including two neighborhoods, each housing four houses, and a dedicated community center. This center is strategically positioned for optimal visibility and a captivating entrance experience. A well-connected corridor, thoughtfully adorned with gathering spaces, seamlessly facilitates staff and resident circulation throughout. For maximum flexibility, an exterior plaza extends from the main activity areas, designed to accommodate large gatherings with adaptable garage door access. The design pays homage to the Memphis prairie aesthetic, with its horizontal emphasis and artful repetition of elements, offering a welcoming and harmonious atmosphere.
