Historic 1879 Structure Made New Again
Juniata College Founders Hall
Juniata College serves more than 1,600 students on 110-acres of rolling hills and like all growing campuses, the need for new additional space and updated facilities challenged the school.
Founders Hall is a historic 1879 structure, making it the oldest building on campus. Orcutt | Winslow provide Juniata College a fully renovated wing on Founders Hall. An additional wing, beyond repair, was replaced as well. Modern glass connector complements the historic structure, bringing in natural light and distinguishing the historic from the new. Important historic elements that were saved include the bell tower that was supported by an egress stair that had to be removed and the original porch that welcomed students in the building.
Dedication and close collaboration allowed the project team to exceed the goal of LEED Certification and attain LEED Gold Certification.
