Charlestown High School

Greater Clark County School Corporation’s administration and the Charlestown community needed a growth strategy for the existing high school site that would exceed the needs of Charlestown High School’s anticipated student growth. Orcutt | Winslow met this challenge, working closely with school administration, by replacing 80% of the existing building and expanding the school’s current parking and support areas to accommodate an increased capacity from 650 to 900 students.

This 275,000 SF addition and renovation consists of approximately 215,000 SF of new construction that includes two new multi-story classroom wings, media center and cafeteria, a new athletic complex, new student drop-off, and a main entry with support functions. Orcutt | Winslow augmented the athletic facilities to meet IHSAA standards while keeping the school fully operational during construction and created a multi-phased approach that innovatively combined new construction with renovating the existing facility.
