1st Thursday: February 2nd, 2012 featuring Deborah Abele
The State of Historic Preservation: In our 21st century existence, many questions remain about how historic preservation fits into our relationship between contemporary issues, development, and economy. In Phoenix, as well as on a regional scale, the necessity for historic preservation presents an ever-increasing challenge.
Join us for a direct conversation with Deborah Abele, who works professionally in the field of historic preservation for local and state governments, commercial and development interests and community organizations. From 1989 -2010 she was the Historic Preservation Officer for the cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale. Her firm, Akros, Inc. provides a range of historic preservation consulting services. Ms. Abele teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in historic preservation as an Adjunct Faculty member of Arizona State University since 1990. She has a BA Degree from Vassar College and was a Graduate Fellow at The George Washington University.
